The Ten Day Masters

In BaZi (八字), your day master is the stem of your day of birth — the core "you" the rest of your chart is read around. There are ten, one per Heavenly Stem.

• Yang Wood (甲) — the towering tree — A dependable pillar others lean on; a builder of lasting things.
• Yin Wood (乙) — the vine and flower — Resilient, charming, able to flourish in almost any environment.
• Yang Fire (丙) — the sun — A source of warmth, optimism and visibility that draws people in.
• Yin Fire (丁) — the candle and starlight — Devoted, insightful, a steady flame that guides rather than dazzles.
• Yang Earth (戊) — the mountain — A reliable anchor; trustworthy, grounded, hard to shake.
• Yin Earth (己) — the garden soil — A patient cultivator; the one who makes others' potential bloom.
• Yang Metal (庚) — the axe and raw ore — A decisive force who gets things done and protects what's right.
• Yin Metal (辛) — the jewel and fine blade — Discerning, graceful, brilliant at anything requiring finesse.
• Yang Water (壬) — the ocean and river — A wide-ranging mind; resourceful, worldly, hard to contain.
• Yin Water (癸) — the dew and mist — Deeply perceptive, creative, able to slip through any obstacle.
