The Yang Wood Day Master · 甲 the towering tree
Upright, principled and growth-driven — you reach for the sky like a great tree. You think in terms of structure, fairness and the long term, and you'd rather stand tall than bend.
At your best
A dependable pillar others lean on; a builder of lasting things.
What to watch
Inflexibility — learning to bend in the wind keeps you from breaking.
Strong vs weak Yang Wood
A strong Day Master runs best with an outlet. Your energy is abundant — the work is to channel it outward into expression, ventures, leadership and giving, rather than hoarding it. Your favourable elements are the ones that let you spend energy productively.
A weak Day Master isn't a flaw — it means you run best when supported. The work is to lean on resources, mentors, allies and replenishment rather than grinding alone. Your favourable elements are the ones that feed and strengthen you.
Whether your Yang Wood runs strong or weak depends on the whole chart, not the stem alone — the calculator works it out for you.
What is a day master?
In BaZi (八字, the Four Pillars of Destiny), your day master is the Heavenly Stem of your day of birth — the single character that represents you at the centre of your chart. Everything else in BaZi is read in relation to it. There are ten day masters, one for each stem; 甲 is Yang Wood.
